I read that post pretty creepy how similar the two can be. Unfortunately bed bugs are a real living problem, I'd hate to have them in my house.

While heating and freezing are a good idea for cloths and pillows because you can just stick them in the freezer or a dryer, it is not so practical for mattresses or box springs which is where bed bugs most frequently reside. After recovering from a bed bug problem myself I went online to http://www.bedbug.com and purchased mattress, pillow and box spring protectors and found that they really do work!
